The Paula Major Lectureship Award

Paula Major was one of the founding members of SGNO. In her honor, this lectureship award is given each year to a gynecology-oncology nurse submitting an abstract about a diagnosis or clinical issue affecting gynecology-oncology patients.

The recipient of this prestigious award receives a free registration for the 2016 Symposium and a $500 honorarium.

2015 Paula Major Lectureship Award Winner

 

Randy Gross, MS, RN, NP, WHNP-BC, ACNS-BC, AOCNP

Congratulations to Randy Gross, the 2015 winner of the Paula Major Lectureship Award. Randy is a Nurse Practitioner at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.  Randy has been a member of SGNO since 1995 and has presented at numerous SGNO Symposia.  He has also been a presenter at ONS, AWHONN, and the Pan American Congress of Psychosocial Oncology.  He has authored three book chapters, one for SGNO's Women and Cancer, one for Brunner and Sundarth's textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing, and one for the ONS Site-Specific Series on gynecologic cancers.  Randy is currently a 3rd-year doctoral student in the City University of New York's PhD in Nursing Science Program.  

Randy's abstract that was chosen for the Paula Major Lectureship award is titled "Nursing Management of Malignant Bowel Obstruction in Gynecologic Cancer Patients."  He is a gifted speaker and is known for his humor and his connections and relationships with his patients, their families, and his colleagues. 

The Paula Major Lectureship Award was established to honor one of SGNO’s founding members, Paula Major. Each year, the Paula Major Lectureship Award is given to a gynecology-oncology nurse submitting an abstract for a podium presentation about a diagnosis or clinical issue affecting gynecology-oncology patients. The recipient of this prestigious award receives free registration for that year’s symposium and a $500 honorarium.
