Founding of the SGNO
Now nearly a quarter-century old, the SGNO traces its roots to individuals who were willing to take the initiative and exercise their professional leadership on behalf of advancement in women's health care.
In 1979, with the support of Richard Boronow, MD, ten dedicated nurses established the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists. The first Symposium was held in Colorado in 1982.
From this beginning, the SGNO has grown internationally. The Society is a non-profit organization of registered nurses and associates dedicated to the advancement of patient care, education, and research in the field of gynecologic oncology and womenís health care.
