Welcome to the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists - SGNO
The SGNO continues to be dedicated to the advancement of patient care, teaching, and research in the specialty of Gynecologic Oncology, as well as women’s health. SGNO is the organization that sets the professional standards of nursing care for patients with GYN malignancies. This organization is the society for those entering the specialty of GYN oncology nursing and those who continue their careers and life work in the care of these women.
Join me as I pause to look back at the organization as a whole. This society offers extensive access to information and individuals whose main work in life is to care for and journey with those women affected by gynecologic malignancies. As a whole we are much more than the sum of our parts. Our members are knowledgeable and proficient in the care of patients, their families and each other. They are students, new graduates, seasoned nurses, and retirees; the experts, the advocates, the teachers, the committed. They themselves are caregivers, patients, counselors, educators, healers, and a whole gamut of multifaceted wonder that makes for very special beings. Each brings something unique to the care of patients and to this organization. And the women we care for? Some of the most beautiful, proud, strong and bravest individuals one has the blessed occasion to meet.
This organization offers many benefits of membership: a journal, a textbook, a symposium; but most importantly access to individuals like yourself who have similar yet different interests, needs and knowledge. All of which are dedicated to the subjects important to those in the Care of GYN Oncology patients. All of which are available to you as a member to enrich, to learn and to grow in our subspecialty. Commit this year to belong, to attend, to contribute, to speak! Let’s continue the legacy created by this organization: making a clinical difference through positive achievements throughout the years.
The Board Members of SGNO extend appreciation and thanks to all of you who continue to support this organization through membership, attendance at the annual symposium and vendorship. We also thank all of those individuals who take time to present at the Symposium for their willingness to participate by creating quality oral and poster presentations. We give thanks to the sponsors who provided funding and continue to maintain a positive relationship with the organization.
I look forward to being the leader of this organization and remain open to all members who desire to become involved, provide input and think outside the box to further the growth of the SGNO. Member support and teamwork are crucial to the success of our organization.
