Serving in Leadership of SGNO

Members of SGNO are encouraged to volunteer for officer or board positions or to submit names to run for these offices. Each year, two members at large of the SGNO Board and the second vice president are elected. On odd years the Secretary/Tresurer is elected. On even years the President-elect is elected.

The nomination of officers and Directors is overseen by a nominating committee of two members elected at the annual business meeting. During the year, the committee seeks nominations. Candidates are contacted and a willingness to run for office is confirmed. The ballot is sent to all members 30 days before the annual business meeting.

We encourage members to take an active part in the organization through membership on a committee or serving on the board. The organization offers gynecologic oncology nurses a way of networking with others in our specialty. It provides current educational information through the journal and the symposium. Most members lead busy lives but we need to remember an organization is only strong and effective by the support and leadership of its members. We all have talents to share to enable each of us to be the best nurses we can be - so we can provide the best care for our patients. We hope you will strongly consider serving in an office or on a committee.
