The "Next Step" On The Internet For SGNO
SGNO is committed to making continual improvement in its outreach to members and prospective members. As part of that effort, the SGNO Board decided to revamp the Society's Web site in 2002. Taking the lead role on the project was Marylou Anton, RN, BSN, OCN, the co-chair of the Communications and Outreach Committee. Her vision was to develop a site that would provide better service to visitors but at a reasonable cost; to create a technologically advanced site that SGNO officers, directors and committee chairs could maintain on a continuing basis.
Bryan Consulting Inc.
The answer was provided by Bryan Consulting, a firm of senior professionals in technology and communication. Among their services is the development and hosting of Web sites. With their Content Management System (CMS), it's no longer necessary to construct pages one at a time or call specialists for every update. The CMS makes that kind of site a thing of the past. It stores our information in a database and displays it in a template, creating each "page" upon demand. And we can update the site in plain English, requiring no special tools or technical skills. Bryan Consulting developed the user interface and visual design for the site, and did the programming to meld it with the CMS hosted on their servers. The result is a dynamic site that we can update.
